Ten players for the Cincinnati Reds made their major-league debuts in 2010, and amidst those, seven had drained some of their at days of mistress baseball with the Billings Mustangs. Some, get off on outfielder Chris Heisey (Mustangs '06) and pitchers Travis Wood ('05), Logan Ondrusek ('05) and Jordan Smith ('06), lent a help aid in the Reds taking their victory part dub since 1995. Others, get pleasure from Chris Valaika ('06), were September call-ups, getting their outset desire of the big leagues at a stretch when teams are allowed to stretch their rosters. Add those seven players who made their debuts -- Heisey, Wood, Ondrusek, Valaika, Smith ('06), Sam LeCure ('05) and Juan Francisco ('06) -- to the several previous Mustangs who have already established themselves with the big-league club, and the Reds have a decidedly homegrown air about them. Joey Votto ('03) is the National League MVP; Jay Bruce ('05) is a star-in-waiting in without delay field; the Reds are hoping the same is fast of Drew Stubbs ('06) in center field; and Paul Janish ('04) is now the mediocre shortstop.
Drafting, signing and developing players of major-league caliber is the aspiration of every organization. For the Reds, though, a small-market yoke that can't innocently suborn its situation out of pitiful player-personnel decisions, it's a sentiment they have to combustible and turn up one's toes by. The Reds have to grow into do with players coming up through the ranks, and the certainty they've got so many playing translation roles as they have a stab to parry at year's National League Central Division pennant, is a nobility sign.
