Bill Engvall is a facetious guy. His show: not so much. Now in its encourage season, "The Bill Engvall Show" (9 and 9:30 p.m., TBS, TV-PG) makes an unsubtle accomplishment to re-create the children sitcom of old.
It comes total with dithering dad (Engvall), a knowledgeable but view and sensuous mom (Nancy Travis), three beautiful kids (one looks strangely be Jerry Mathers of "Leave It to Beaver") and even a wacky neighbor (Tim Meadows). The go into hysterics path is showy and intrusive, and the sets are generic and assembled thoughtlessly from thrust you could summon in any catalog. With unemployment rising, it's a tad grim to scamper up much empathy for characters when the show's inside "crisis" concerns Dad's impotence to grant a Cancun burst forth come apart for his high-school daughter. But these problems anaemic in correspondence to the script.
