People are embracing reclaimed wood and giving it supplementary life, Yip says. "We bring about it's not an undying resource we can just follow exploiting," he says. "It's a not incongruous extension of the green movement, colliding with the occurrence that we're repurposing a lot of things these days." And wood adds part to a room, the designers say. Old doors, shutters, crates and barns are being repurposed into tack and confuse or stockade coverings.
"It's that man you can't accept off the showroom floor," Gorder explains. Salvaged wood is refreshingly low-maintenance because scratches only count up to its charm. "I have two minor children under the seniority of 6," Olson says.
"So weathered finishes, they surely state to me." Reclaimed flooring and paraphernalia can be expensive, especially if you're set on a discrete mention or model of wood. But, this being America, phoney wood with a weathered "reclaimed" winding up is available at a lower price than the natural thing.
